Even though my internship was impacted by the pandemic it made it an even better learning experience that required a lot of adapting. I have a passion for public health. Everyone at the Texas Dept of Health State Services goes above and beyond to assist the public on awareness and services provided for them. Great benefits as well. Pros 2 company events: Employee recognition events with award presentation/luncheon Cons Pay could be better. Very good state agency to work for. Care about their employees, pay is good, great benefits, holidays and paid vacation and sick time. Able to work with the public and help provide public safety. The hours were consistent and there was good job security. My program manager foster an environment where she seemed to put people against each other. There was constant negative talking behind other employees backs, creating a culture of distrust.
