"Residents who have not visited our OC One-Stop Center are encouraged to take advantage of the Mobile Unit, " said Vice Chairman Doug Chaffee, Fourth District Supervisor. "The OC One-Stop Mobile Unit will offer an array of services to help residents with what they need to be successful in their job or business. " Businesses specifically may use the Mobile Unit for recruiting, pre-employment screening, interviewing, and training, while prospective employees will be served through various job search and career development activities such as online job searches, resume and cover letter development, on-line tutorials and individual assessments, and exploration of training eligibility and options. Sergio Contreras, a husband, father, homeowner, and registered Democrat, has served on the Westminster City Council since 2012, where he successfully championed the largest upgrade to Westminster's park system since 1996, encompassing 22 park facilities and representing a $10. 4 million investment in the community. Contreras oversaw the city's first general plan update in decades. He also placed emergency call boxes in all Westminster parks to enhance public safety, and fought to place outdoor exercise equipment in local parks to improve public health. Contreras previously served on the Westminster School Board from 2004 to 2012, including serving as president of the board in 2012. On the School Board, Contreras helped pass a $130 million school bond to modernize Westminster's school facilities and make them safer. In that role, he established an all-day kindergarten system, making Westminster School District the first in Orange County to provide day-long kindergarten at all school sites.

Almost a year after California's first shelter at home order, I can't help but think about how the County of Orange so utterly failed so many people over the course of the year. Most of all, I can't help but think about the ways in which the Board of Supervisors failed my grandpa. He passed away on December 14, 2020. Alone. On a hospital bed in Los Angeles due to COVID-19 complications. He was transported to LA from a hospital in Santa Ana after being told he would have to undergo treatment that was unavailable at the Santa Ana hospital. I was responsible for taking phone calls from his nurses and doctors the three days he was in the ICU. They were the longest 72 hours of my life. Every time my phone rang, a cold chill ran down my spine. I'd feel my heart stop for a second. I imagined the worst. The night before his death, I had the opportunity to talk to him over the phone. It was my first time hearing his voice in over 48 hours. My grandpa was one of the strongest people I knew. Even at his lowest, he fooled everyone and made himself look like the strongest person in the room.

I'd be in favor of new development impact fees to mitigate traffic concerns, while understanding more traffic is an inevitable result of most new development. I think there's a balance that must be struck between the externalities of traffic (congestion time) vs the externalities of absurdly high real estate prices and rents (long distance commutes, traffic related to said commutes, high debt to income ratios, struggling young families, homelessness, etc. ). Not in favor of candidates that push for government land restrictions that inflate prices. Ironically, supposedly "small govt" Republicans I've seen push for all kinds of zoning regulations.
