Sergio Contreras, a husband, father, homeowner, and registered Democrat, has served on the Westminster City Council since 2012, where he successfully championed the largest upgrade to Westminster's park system since 1996, encompassing 22 park facilities and representing a $10. 4 million investment in the community. Contreras oversaw the city's first general plan update in decades. He also placed emergency call boxes in all Westminster parks to enhance public safety, and fought to place outdoor exercise equipment in local parks to improve public health. Contreras previously served on the Westminster School Board from 2004 to 2012, including serving as president of the board in 2012. On the School Board, Contreras helped pass a $130 million school bond to modernize Westminster's school facilities and make them safer. In that role, he established an all-day kindergarten system, making Westminster School District the first in Orange County to provide day-long kindergarten at all school sites.

level 1 They work for their donors, which isn't me and I'm assuming isn't you either. I'm sure if we found out where most of the covid relief aid directed to our county went we'd probably have a better idea who the BOS works for. level 2 Since it's taxpayer dollars they used for covid relief, it would be nice to know the entire 845mil spend instead of the 15mil we currently have vague info about. level 1 they work for whoever can put the most money in their pockets hence why they've been all for "reopening" and pretending we're not in a pandemic this entire time while ignoring the fact that their constituents continue getting sick and dying level 1 They work for money. People without it aren't worth anything to them. level 1 How else are we gonna be able to have Sunday brunch with all these restrictions level 1 Oh god what did they do now level 2 It's more what they haven't done. level 2 Patted themselves on the back for doing a good job level 1 Nope, only working for themselves and their donors.

Almost a year after California's first shelter at home order, I can't help but think about how the County of Orange so utterly failed so many people over the course of the year. Most of all, I can't help but think about the ways in which the Board of Supervisors failed my grandpa. He passed away on December 14, 2020. Alone. On a hospital bed in Los Angeles due to COVID-19 complications. He was transported to LA from a hospital in Santa Ana after being told he would have to undergo treatment that was unavailable at the Santa Ana hospital. I was responsible for taking phone calls from his nurses and doctors the three days he was in the ICU. They were the longest 72 hours of my life. Every time my phone rang, a cold chill ran down my spine. I'd feel my heart stop for a second. I imagined the worst. The night before his death, I had the opportunity to talk to him over the phone. It was my first time hearing his voice in over 48 hours. My grandpa was one of the strongest people I knew. Even at his lowest, he fooled everyone and made himself look like the strongest person in the room.

level 2 I've watched a handful of videos on YouTube of the Spanish Flu and never heard of this. level 1 cant people sacrifice a little bit? wearing mask is a little incomvenience to contain the virus they dont like vaccine.. now they dont like wearing mask you dont even have to wear it all the time.. you only need it when u are near people level 2 Wearing a mask is like, barely an inconvenience. Yes, it's annoying to put on and feel it on your face, but on the scale of things that are actual inconveniences, it's the first-worldiest of first-world problems. It's the actual bare minimum of doing literally anything to slow down the spread. What is the actual sacrifice involved in wearing a mask in public? level 2 Haven't you heard? Wearing a mask is like wearing a personal prison. /s level 2 protestors last week didn't seem to mind not social distancing. Just following the trends.

I'd be in favor of new development impact fees to mitigate traffic concerns, while understanding more traffic is an inevitable result of most new development. I think there's a balance that must be struck between the externalities of traffic (congestion time) vs the externalities of absurdly high real estate prices and rents (long distance commutes, traffic related to said commutes, high debt to income ratios, struggling young families, homelessness, etc. ). Not in favor of candidates that push for government land restrictions that inflate prices. Ironically, supposedly "small govt" Republicans I've seen push for all kinds of zoning regulations.
