Does anyone have any recommendations as to applying with another bank? Do I need to open a bank account before applying for a LOC with that institution? Is it advisable? I am willing to move everything from RBC as I am frankly not happy with their level of service for the past few years. Seems everything I do with them has been a challeng and their recent level of service (prior to Covid) has dropped significantly. Appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance. Edited: Also is it better to apply for individual or joint LOC in order to maximize the amount we can potentially get - if anything at all? Our income is a total of 152K /YR. Wife's TU score is similar to mine. 690. Few late/missed payments at the time I had lost my job. 2 years since and everything has been up to date. No late or missed payments either.

3 out of 5 stars, based on 175 customer reviews Customer reviews verified as of 24 December 2019 TD Bank gets pretty negative reviews from former customers. Complaints center around high fees, a glitchy website and rude customer service representatives. One borrower had the APR on their loan increase suddenly out of nowhere. Another had difficulty qualifying for a personal line of credit, even when they improved their credit score to 740 — which is what a customer service representative told them to do. How do I apply? To start your online application, visit TD Bank's website. Navigate to its personal loans section and click Apply now under the unsecured loan option. Select your loan product and whether it will be used for home improvement. Search for a closing store where you'll sign your paperwork and select one near you. Select how many people will be applying for the loan, whether you want to set up automatic payments, how much you want to borrow, what your funds will be for and if you or your borrowers are a TD Ameritrade employee.

Government student loans have the following advantages over SLOCs, 1/ If you apply for a loan you may be awarded federal or provincial grants that you don't need to repay. 2/ While you are in school full time the loan does not accrue interest. 3/ If after you finish school you are in a no income/ low income situation the Repayment Assistance Plan means that your payments may be paused or reduced and the governments will cover the interest that your payments aren't covering. 4/ If you return to school full time your loans won't accrue interest. 5/ Interest payments on government student loans qualify for non refundable tax credits, which effectively reduce the interest rate by 20% to 25%.

Hello, I'm a 3rd year undergraduate student with a part time job receiving OSAP. I'm in a dilemma where I feel the need to work more to pay off expenses of living but doing this really affects my studies and ability to do well. After tuition costs OSAP really doesn't do much to cover my living and now I'm starting to rack up credit card debt, nearly all from grocery/eating. I was wondering if it would make sense to apply for a student line of credit and how likely will I be able get it from TD who I've been with for almost a decade (decent credit for a young person). Will getting OSAP disqualify me from a student line of credit? Thanks in advance.

speedy recovery to you! level 1 Like /u/8r2v mentioned, this is not personal. Banks are taking back credit lines and lowering limits on credit cards. It wouldn't surprise me to see people who normally had no issues getting credit suddenly being denied. The next few years are going to be very difficult for many Canadians. If you don't need the line of credit I wouldn't worry about it, in fact I would be thankful I didn't need it. level 1 Did you call them to see if they had a specific reason?

Hey guys, Just wondering from everyone's experiences here if an approved application really does mean it's been approved? To give you some context, I applied for a LoC a few days ago on their online website, when i clicked on the loans/loc page a pop up came on my screen with the exact words that I was "approved", prior to entering in any of my information. I found this as odd but didn't dismiss it as i currently do all my banking with TD (for over 1yr now) so they have all my payroll info etc. So i go through the application and go to fill out the rest of my details but then towards the end something weird happens and says that something went wrong and that they need to review etc (in my mind i'm thinking i didn't get approved). I book an appointment with my branch and saw my rep this morning and he told me that my LoC was approved as per what his screen was showing him. The weird part is that he said i should have received some documents to sign etc via email, though i have not received any such thing.
